This is one of the most popular hikes in the Salt Lake area. It provides access to a unique waterfall where Big Cottonwood Creek gushes through a donut-shaped hole in the mountainside. The forested trail is well marked. The trailhead is in Big Cottonwood Canyon near the Jordan Pines picnic area.
Most people hike here during summer and fall. Autumn colors are spectacular. This has also become a popular winter snowshoe hike.
Drive about 9 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon, to the signed Mill D Trailhead. If you come during the busy season you may need to park here; parking is limited at the smaller, Donut Falls Trailhead just up the road.
From the Mill D Trailhead, drive or hike up the paved, gated Mill D South Fork Road, past the Jordan Pines picnic area. You'll pass summer homes. This road is usually plowed during winter months.
The hike is approximately 1.75 miles each way. Takes about 35 - 45 minutes to hike.
We will be arranging group transporatation if you need it. Please reply to this event to indicate you need a ride and we'll be in touch!
Please note that this event is for gay, bisexual and transgender men who are 18 years old and over.
