On December 10, 2014 the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office of Diversity & Human Rights (ODHR) and the Salt Lake City Human Rights Commission will host the Human Rights Day Celebration. The Celebration commemorates December 10, 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Human Rights Day is celebrated across the globe to raise awareness about local and international efforts to improve human rights for all individuals. In addition, Salt Lake City’s celebration is a fundraiser for the Human Rights Education Project (HREP), a program designed to educate Salt Lake City refugees and immigrants about their legal rights and responsibilities in the U.S. Funds raised go to purchase incentives, pay interpreters, and assist with transportation.
Tickets to the event will include hors d'oeuvres from Spice Kitchen Incubator, a refugee catering company in Salt Lake City, a silent auction, the unveling of the Faces of Salt Lake photography and interview exhibit, music, and the presentation of the 2014 Human Rights Award. We will be welcoming Salt Lake City Queens representing different ethnicities and nationalities, and the Salt Lake City Youth for Human Rights.
Ticket price are as follows:
$8 for students purchased in advance through Event Brite. We will ask to see a valid student ID at the door. If you do not have a valid ID you will be asked to pay an additional $12.
